One of the frequently asked questions from me is “How to face an interview successfully”, and today I thought of answering this question.
First of all, getting selected for an interview is overcoming the first obstacle in finding a job. The company has chosen you for the interview because you have the suitability for a specific role. However, to perform the job, you have to prove yourself and go through a thorough review. Here are some of the essential tips that have to follow to face the interview successfully.
Study the job description
The responsibilities that should be done by the candidate are in the job description. Never make assumptions. Therefore the applicant should study the job description and selection criteria. Carefully think of examples that will make them aware that you have the knowledge and experience that they expect
Research the company
Collect Information as much as possible about the company by talking to people who work in the company, internet research and other ways. When you are familiar with the history, mission, and vision, Information on departments, client base, financial standing and challenges that are being faced by the company, you will be able to answer questions confidently. Knowing about the company will make them sure that you are the guy that they are looking for to hire.
Build your answers
Candidates become nervous when interviewers ask questions from them. Mostly they are relevant to your field of expertise. You may not know what questions, but it will be mostly about how you work, strengths, real-life problems that you will face in the area of expertise. Therefore anticipating these questions and building real-life answers will make it easy.
The question asked at the beginning of the interview is “Tell us about you”. This question doesn’t precisely interpret your personal history but why you meet all the requirements of their selection criteria.
Prepare for hypothetical questions
There will be hypothetical questions in your interview. This is to check your thinking skills under pressure. Create some hypothetical questions in advance and answer, and then this will help you when you answer questions confidently. When you are unable to answer these questions, don’t worry, try your best to answer the questions correctly. Before leaving the room after the interview Is over, remember to ask the answer from the interviewer for the question you couldn’t answer. There is a chance where they might hire you due to the eagerness to learn.
There are many formats of interviews. There are several interviews, some you have to submit an assessment. So you have the responsibility to check what type of interview it is beforehand. You have to check who the interviewers are before the interview, so when they ask questions, you will be familiar, and this will help you feel that you are not talking to a stranger.
Practice the Interview
The practice is the last essential tip for you to pass the interview successfully. Many people do not follow this step. When we play a certain sport or when playing music, we practice. But when it comes to interviewing, most of us don’t. We research and learn all the facts, but we don’t practice what we research. You can practice by recording yourself, or you can ask one of your trusted peers to question you. By doing this, you will be able to answer the questions confidently.
These are the common tips that has to be followed :
- Dress professional and be clean
- Go to the venue before 10 minutes
- Greet the interviewers
- Talk politely
These are the techniques that can pave the way to a successful interview and to grab that job. Good luck with your interview.
